Believe it or not, despite the likes of Garrett Wilson and Breece Hall being in their second seasons, the New York Jets offense is actually worse this year than it was last year.

So far through ten games this season, the Jets are gaining fewer yards, both in the air and on the ground, and scoring fewer points than they were last season under previous offensive coordinator Mike LaFleur.

Making matters worse for Jets fans is the fact that most of them know Hackett wouldn’t even have had the job if it weren’t for Aaron Rodgers, who hasn’t been able to play for the team, anyway.

Hackett certainly isn’t doing himself any favors, either, as he gave a completely nonsensical and meaningless response when asked why his offense is so poor.

“When it comes to stats, there’s so many different ways to look at numbers,” Hackett said to reporters on Wednesday. “Good, bad. There are people throughout this league that have been very, very good. There are those that are not as good. That fluctuates. There are so many things that change. That’s why this game is so great. So many different things that change. Personnel. Situations. So many different things.”

Here are some stats for you: the Jets have the fewest touchdowns in the league this year with 10, which is five less than the 31st-worst offense in the league. They also have the third-fewest passing yards, ahead of only the Giants and the Steelers, and have a bottom-nine rushing offense, as well.

Hackett’s comments come as the Jets prepare to start journeyman Tim Boyle against the high-scoring Miami Dolphins on Friday. Another stat that might concern Hackett is the point spread of Friday’s game, as the Dolphins are currently favored by 10 points despite the fact that the Jets are the home team.
