Is New York Jets head coach worried about his job security just 1.5 years into a five-year contract? Glenn says that he’s not. But his further answers seem to contradict that belief.

With a loss to the Las Vegas Raiders on Sunday, Glenn dropped to 5-20 in his head-coaching career. The Jets also became only the third team in the past 45 years to lose a game after scoring on its first six possessions.

On Monday morning, members of the media asked Glenn whether or not he’s beginning to worry that he might lose his job, and his answers were a bit confusing.

Aaron Glenn Says He’s Not Worried About Losing His Job … Sort Of

The main reason that Glenn isn’t worried about losing his job, despite his brutal record, is that he’s too caught up in other aspects of his work.

“There’s so much that I think about when it comes to us improving each week that it really doesn’t come across my mind, to be honest with you,” Glenn told reporters.

“I understand how this league is. I understand what this business is about, but my first job is each week improving this team. And that’s the only thing that I think about.”

But what happens if the team continues to lose? After all, New York is coming off losses to Las Vegas and the Miami Dolphins. The Jets now have the Chiefs and Bills to contend with in their next two games.

So it doesn’t appear that wins are on the horizon. But Glenn says that the team needs to start winning, and quickly.

“Absolutely,” he said when asked if there’s pressure to start winning. “I mean, that’s what this is. It’s a bottom-line business, and we have to win, but we still have nine games left. So we still have an opportunity to win nine games.”

So, which is it? Does Aaron Glenn feel his job is safe? Or is there pressure to start winning?

Because if he doesn’t do the latter, he may not have nine games left.
