NFL Star Earl Thomas Loses $1.9 Million In Identity Theft Scheme Ran By Lover Of His Ex-Wife

Former NFL star Earl Thomas finds himself at the center of a $1.9 million identity theft scheme allegedly orchestrated by his ex-wife’s boyfriend, Kevin J. Thompson.

Thomas, a three-time All-Pro Safety is known as a core member of the Seahawks’ legendary “Legion of Boom” defense. Thomas was the 14th overall pick in the 2010 NFL Draft and was a part of the Seahawks Super Bowl XLVIII win against Peyton Manning’s Broncos, where they won 43-8 on that back of that defense. Thomas later joined the Ravens for the 2019 season, his final season in the NFL.

The 38-year-old Thompson, who’s in a relationship with Thomas’ ex-wife Nina Thomas, was arrested by the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office in June, according to Michelle Hunter of Nola.com.

According to the report, Thompson is accused of a number of offenses, including identity theft, forgery, money laundering, credit card fraud, computer fraud, and bank fraud.

Thompson allegedly cashed Thomas’ NFL checks, drawing funds from his bank account, and manipulating car ownership for multiple vehicles. Despite the serious charges, Thompson was released on a $730,000 bond.

Earl Thomas and Nina’s divorced in 2020, after she accused Thomas of cheating and pulled a gun on him after finding out, according to reports.

Thomas reportedly earned $79.4 million, according to Spotrac.
