NFL Hands Down Temporary Ruling On Eagles Security Head Dom DiSandro

When the Philadelphia Eagles take the field on Sunday against the Dallas Cowboys, they’ll do so without the protection of their head of security, Dom DiSandro.

The NFL determined that DiSandro will be banned from the sidelines on Sunday. The league is currently conducting an investigation into his involvement in a sideline scuffle with San Francisco 49ers linebacker Dre Greenlaw.

Greenlaw was ejected from last week’s game in Philadelphia after putting his hand in DiSandro’s face.

DiSandro was also removed from the sideline following the incident.

Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk reports that DiSandro has not yet been officially suspended by the league.

“It is not a suspension, according to the source,” Florio writes. “DiSandro will be permitted to perform his daily duties, to travel with the team, and to be present in the stadium on Sunday for his normal game day responsibilities and meetings. He also is permitted to be in the locker room. However, he cannot be on the sidelines during the game.”

NFL Sent Memo To Teams After Dom DiSandro-Dre Greenlaw Scuffle

The NFL issued a memo to all 32 teams following the altercation.

“(NFL policies) clearly prohibit non-player personnel — coaches, trainers, equipment staff, security staff, or others — from making physical contact with, taunting, or directing abusive or insulting language toward opposing players, game officials, or others involved in a game,” the memo read.

“If an altercation occurs, club personnel are to allow the coaches and game officials to manage the situation, with the officials assessing appropriate penalties… Under no circumstances are club personnel to engage with or make physical contact with another club’s player(s) or other personnel.”

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that Greenlaw is expected to be fined for his late hit prior to the fracas. He and DiSandro both apologized to one another following the incident.

But it appears that neither will walk away from the incident unscathed.
