Nick Castellanos’ reputation precedes him. No, not his reputation as one of baseball’s best hitters. But rather his reputation as a serial predictor of awful things.

The Castellanos meme began when his home run interrupted an apology from Cincinnati Reds’ broadcast Thom Brennaman for a homophobic slur made earlier in the broadcast.

But it didn’t stop there. In fact, Castellanos’ power only grew. He next homered against the Kansas City Royals while the KC broadcasters were offering up a eulogy.

He took his powers to Philadelphia in the offseason and the curse continued. Phillies’ broadcaster Tom McCarthy was reading a Memorial Day tribute earlier this season when, like clockwork, Castellanos smashed a home run.

Now it appears those power have magnified in the postseason.

Nick Castellanos’ Big Day May Have Killed Actress Angela Lansbury

Castellanos hasn’t homered (yet) against the Atlanta Braves in Game 1 of the National League Division Series. But he has had a big day. The Phillies’ right fielder began his day 3-for-3 in the first four innings with three RBIs to help the Phillies take a commanding 6-1 lead.

They now lead 7-3 late in the game Castellanos’ success could only mean one thing.
