Now We Know Why Odell Got His Hair Cut: So He Can Stick His Head Further Up His Own Ass

Let’s get one thing out of the way: Odell Beckham Jr. is undoubtedly one of the best wide receivers in the National Football League.

His hands are essentially cheat codes, he’s athletic as all hell (arguably the most athletic player in the NFL, which is no small feat), and he’s still just 26-years-old, barely scratching the surface of his prime.

But he’s also a massive fucking headache.

He cries on the sidelines. He assaults and then proposes to kickers nets. He Kyles holes in walls and gets into fights on the field. He regularly tries to turn football games into the Odell Beckham Jr. Show. He is the walking embodiment of the primadonna wide receiver stereotype.

And truth be told, fair play to him: he’s a rockstar and that’s what rockstars do: they know they’re the star of the show and that average people are spending their hard-earned money to see them do what they do.

But rockstars at least play the hits night in and night out, which is not always the case with Odell Beckham Jr., especially when his team needs him most.

Back in the 2016 playoffs — you know, the time when the league’s elite players are supposed to shine — Beckham had four catches for 28 yards, which was less than Tavarres King (73 yards), Will Tye (66 yards), Sterling Shepard (63 yards), and Victor Cruz (30 yards).

To put that into even further perspective, that was Cruz’s last game in the NFL. My man got outplayed by a dude who was quite literally on his last legs.

And that’s what makes all of Beckham’s recent shit-talking so frustrating: the utter, yet completely consistent, lack of humility and awareness.

When I read all these recent quotes from Odell Beckham that have been shitting on Giants fans and the franchise itself, as a Jets fan, it brings a grin to my face and a Grinch-like joy to my heart.

But as a New Yorker, it drives me fucking mad, because everyone who’s actually followed Odell’s career thus far knows he rarely shows up when it counts despite regularly finding ways to make it all about himself.

So, enjoy him while you can, Cleveland, as it’s only a matter of time before his self-aggrandizing, head-up-his-own-ass act wears thin with you, too, especially once he finishes the season with fewer catches than Jarvis.
