The Eagles, Who’ve Won 34 Games In His 3 Years, Considering Firing Nick Sirianni

Although the Philadelphia Eagles have won 34 games, made the playoffs every year, and played in the Super Bowl last year, the organization is reportedly considering letting go of head coach Nick Sirianni.

According to ESPN’s Tim McManus, the Eagles moving on from Sirianni this offseason is “in play.” The Eagles will be taking on the Tampa Bay Bucs in the NFC’s Wild Card round on Monday at 8 p.m. EST.

“Believing what I’m seeing with my eyes, this thing has fallen apart on the head coach and there’s some rot going on right now, so it’s a hard one to pin,” McManus said on the Philly Special podcast.

“It’s out there that they might end up moving on [from Nick Sirianni]. I don’t want to say that’s the most likely but I do feel that it’s in play.”

While the Eagles posted a solid 11-6 record this season, the context shows that the wheels have fallen off the defending NFC champions as they became the first team in NFL history to start 10-1 and not reach 12 wins.

If the Eagles were to fire Sirianni, they’d be behind the rest of the market in their head coaching search as all of the other seven openings are for teams that missed the playoffs this year.

Despite the fact that they’ve lost five of their last six games and are on the road, Sirianni’s Birds are favored by 3-points over Baker Mayfield and the 9-8 Bucs, who won the NFC South for the third straight season even though they lost Tom Brady to retirement.

In addition to having a winning record in all three of his seasons as head coach, Sirianni also oversaw an offense that turned Jalen Hurts from an inaccurate question mark into a Pro Bowler and All-Pro second-teamer.

Should Sirianni hit the coaching market, he’d undoubtedly be one of the most sought after candidates.
