Derek has been more than serviceable since the Las Vegas (then Oakland) Raiders selected him with the the 36th pick in the 2014 NFL Draft.

In nine NFL seasons, Carr has thrown for over 35,000 yards, 217 touchdowns and 99 interceptions. He’s made three Pro Bowls and led the Raiders to the playoffs twice.

This season, however, was a struggle for the 31-year-old veteran signal caller. He threw for 3,522 yards and 24 touchdowns in 15 starts, but he also threw 14 interceptions in his first year under new head coach Josh McDaniels.

That’s not good enough. Both by Carr’s standards and the Raiders’ standards, he underperformed. And that’s even with the addition of superstar wideout Davante Adams.

So Las Vegas, it appears, is ready to move on to bigger and better things. More specifically, the GOAT.

Raiders Looking Into Trading Derek Carr In Order To Sign Tom Brady In Offseason

NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported Thursday morning that the Raiders are planning to begin evaluating the trade market for Carr.

“Sources: The #Raiders will begin the process of evaluating the trade market for QB Derek Carr, as they prepare for a decision on their QB for the future. This points to the possibility of Carr, who holds a no-trade clause and will be part of the process, leaving the organization,” the tweet read.

Carr is entering the first of a three-year, $121.5 million contract that includes a no trade clause. But at his best, he could prove a major asset for a team built to win.

Carr also appears in on the idea, as he released a farewell message to the organization and fans on Thursday morning shortly after the report.

For Las Vegas, however, the move is all about his potential replacement. The Raiders are reportedly “all-in” on signing seven-time Super Bowl winning QB Tom Brady when he hits free agency.

The 45-year-old, who will be 46 when the next season begins, is expected to leave Tampa in the offseason.

Brady would reunite with his former Patriots offensive coordinator in McDaniel and be closer to the West Coast when he grew up.

There’s work to do for Las Vegas’ plan to come to fruition. But it at least appears the Raiders have a plan.
