Rapper Hoodie Allen, real name Steven Markowitz, had a wild weekend traveling coast to coast and playing high-stakes poker.

He made Day 2 of the World Series of Poker Main Event with about 145,000 chips in the bag. Then he hopped on a red eye flight after play ended on Day 1 to fly back to New York for a close friend’s wedding.

After the wedding, he grabbed a 5am flight back to Las Vegas to pick up Day 3 of the WSOP Main Event. Then on the 4th hand of the day he picked up pocket aces and his AA LOST to A-K offsuit. Just a whirlwind of a weekend brutal finish to an otherwise great run in the Main Event.

Former Barstool personality Ben Mintz, who was on the PokerGo stream last week, tweeted this update from Friday:

Hoodie Allen gave the world an update on Sunday after he made it back to Las Vegas. His Day 3 run was short and he certainly didn’t misplay AA but sometimes the poker gods have it out for you…

If that tweet is’t loading, Hoodie Allen said:

had the craziest 48 hours

-made it do day 3 of the biggest poker tournament in the world
– left early to take a red eye flight to NY for my friends wedding 💒
– flew back at 5 am the next morning to be back in Vegas for the poker tournament
– get pocket aces (AA) the 4th hand of the day and a player at our table goes all in against us
– the player wins an unlikely pot (8% chance to beat us) to eliminate us after only 15 minutes of playing

lesson: life can always suck out on u when u least expect it so be there for the people u care about and boldly do the things u love regardless of outcome

He also shared a picture of the hand:

Hoodie Allen is an avid poker player. This was not his first rodeo (in the Main Event).

If you’re wondering about Day 2… Yes, his chips just sat there all day. The dealer would blind/ante off his chips so the stack would dwindle:

It was a good run.

Heading into Day 4 of the Main Event there are 1,517 players out a record-setting 10,043 field. 1,507 players will make the money so when play resumes on Day 4 they are 10 away from the money bubble.

Chance Kornuth is just a few thousand off the overall chip lead. As a reminder, on July 7th I said Chance was THE player to watch in the Main Event. At that time I wrote “The Main Event will conclude 10 days from now on July 17th. There are a LOT of players to watch between now and then. But I’d say keep you eye on Chance Kornuth who had a strong Day 1D and bagged 241,500 in chips to finish 26th in his flight.

Kornuth currently sits 8th in WSOP Player of the Year standings with 2,675.24 points and has been playing incredibly strong poker lately, so keep your eyes on him to go deep.”

He’s now sitting on a stack of 1,887,000 chips and looking strong.
