Netflix has announced that they are releasing a new NFL-focused documentary series titled Receiver, a follow-up to their 2023 day-in-the-life docuseries Quarterback.

Quarterback, which had eight episodes, tracked the lives of Kirk Cousins, Marcus Mariota, and Patrick Mahomes during the 2022 NFL season, with the trio wearing microphones for every single game, which is the first time the NFL has allowed such coverage.

Announced on Tuesday, March 19, Netflix’s Receiver will almost double the amount of NFL stars it documents as Davante Adams (Las Vegas Raiders), Justin Jefferson (Minnesota Vikings), George Kittle (San Francisco 49ers), Deebo Samuel (San Francisco 49ers), and Amon-Ra St. Brown (Detroit Lions) will all be featured in the series.

With the series set to release later this year, that means the coverage was shot during the 2023 season, offering up plenty of storylines for the show.

For Adams and the Raiders, head coach Josh McDaniels was fired in the middle of the season and replaced by Antonio Pierce, who’d ultimately land the job on a full-time basis.

Justin Jefferson is widely considered to be the best wide receiver in the NFL and may be traded away from the Vikings by the time the documentary is released.

Amon-Ra St. Brown and the Detroit Lions were the darlings of the league last year, while the pair of Deebo Samuel and George Kittle ultimately went to, and lost in, the Super Bowl against Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs.

Netflix has also made docuseries focused on a bevy of other sports, particularly the daily lives of the athletes who participate in them, such as golf (Full Swing), Formula 1 (Drive to Survive), tennis (Break Point), wrestling (Wrestlers), and Nascar (Full Speed).

At this time, Netflix has not set an official release date for Receiver. All eight episodes of Quarterback are available to stream.
