Colorado head coach Deion Sanders is viewed as one of the most confident personalities in college football, whether that be on the sidelines or the recruiting trail. This week, a top prospect echoed that belief.

Ahead of the Under Armour All-America Game, players were asked a number of different questions on the topic of their recruitment.

Those included things revolving around NIL, favorite coaches, and top spenders on official visits.

The interviews were done by Grace Raynor and Manny Navarro then later posted in a story on The Athletic.

One question was of particular interest as the reporters asked about the most arrogant coaches the recruits interacted with. Many immediately pointed to Alabama’s Nick Saban, with one prospect calling him “robotic” and lacking any personality.

Deion Sanders didn’t seem to have that issue, as another prospect noted.

“Probably (Colorado’s) Deion (Sanders),” the player said when asked. He then backed off a bit, swapping the word arrogance for cockiness.

“It’s all love though. He goes about it in his own unique way. It’s not arrogance — just cockiness.”

That surprises absolutely no one who’s followed either his playing or coaching career. It’s that confidence and flashiness that earned him the name “Primetime.”

Just this season alone, we’ve seen him targeted for his recruiting style, a tendency to be followed by cameras, and for wearing shades when meeting with the media.

That cockiness can often create enemies, but it can lead to success, too.

Sanders didn’t have the best recruiting cycle this past signing day, at least in terms of his high school class, though he’s been able to make up for it with another top ranked transfer portal class.

He’s confident in continuing his turnaround of the Colorado program, with son Shedeur Sanders leading the way. Improvement upon his 4-8 campaign in the coming year could lead to an even cockier Deion Sanders next recruiting season.
