RGII Makes Out-Of-Pocket Reference To Jesus Christ’s Crucifixion During College Football Game

Robert Griffin III knows a thing or two about how to play — and call — college football. The former Heisman Trophy winner has been in the booth for a couple of years now and continues to be one of the wildest announcers in the game.

RGIII has been a menace over the last few season. He has dropped multiple sexual innuendos on live TV in the past, and recently said that players were trying to “get butt naked in the secondary,” as just one example.

The former No. 2 overall NFL Draft pick is always up to something. It’s usually pretty funny.

Some people love when RGIII is on the call. Some people hate when RGIII is on the call.

Regardless of where you stand, we can all agree that he was out of pocket during Ole Miss’ win over LSU on Saturday night. Whether his comment was offensive or not is up for debate, but it is impossible not to double take after hearing what he had to say about Jesus Christ and the crucifixion.

Robert Griffin III really said that…?!

The Tigers had the ball, up two, with just over three minutes left in the game. Quarterback Jaylen Daniels was flushed out of the pocket and tried to find room to scramble for the first down.

He could not. The Rebels defense swarmed to the ball and lifted him up in the air, kinda like Simba at Pride Rock.

RGII could have made a Lion Kind reference. That was not where he took it.

Instead, the 33-year-old went with a religious reference. RGIII compared the play to the crucifixion of Jesus Christ.

They lifted that man up to the sky like he was Jesus, letting him know they’re going to put him on the cross right there.

All that play-by-play announcer Bob Wischusen could say was “WOW” before he quickly changed the subject. It was wildly unexpected and out of absolutely nowhere.

Part of what makes RGIII entertaining is his unpredictability and very colorful color commentary, but the crucifixion line was his craziest to date. His production meeting this week will be interesting, to say the least. It’s hard to imagine that ESPN loved that one, even if they give him a pretty long leash!
