Former 2nd overall pick, QB Robert Griffin III, dropped a little bombshell in an interview with Dan Patrick.

RGIII said that an NFL team reached out to him in the middle of August, inquiring about the possibility of him signing up for another round of football after he’s been out of the league for 3 seasons.

Griffin says that while he enjoys his new role in media, he still has that itch to play, and if the right opportunity came along, he’s not closing the door on a comeback.

Curiously, he said he won’t reveal which team or teams contacted him. When asked about it, Griffin commented, “Out of respect for any teams that I have talked to, I keep them unnamed for now. You know how the NFL works. Gave an honest answer but still respect the privacy of the team.”

The last time we saw Griffin in action was back in 2020, donning the Ravens’ colors as Lamar Jackson’s trusty backup and mentor.

Let’s not forget his rookie season however. Back in 2012, he was the talk of the NFL, bagging the Offensive Rookie of the Year award after racking up 27 total touchdowns to just 5 interceptions. Oh, he also dashed for 815 rushing yards. He had some serious talent back then.

Unfortunately a knee injury that year robbed him from some of his explosiveness, and he never quite managed to reclaim that same level of play.

Will RGIII come back to the NFL? only time will tell.
