Regardless of which side of the Aaron Rodgers debate you fall on, you can likely agree that the man is a freakazoid.

Whether you admire his on-the-field ability or scratch your head at some of his off-the-field opinions, the term “freakazoid” likely applies all the same, which is the exact word that New York Jets head coach Robert Saleh used to describe the 39-year-old after he was seen walking around and throwing a football just five weeks after tearing his achilles.

“It’s unbelievable. A lot of people I’ve talked to … who also had this, everyone is in awe that he’s already walking and for him to be on the sideline, standing the entire time. He’s a freakazoid,” Saleh told reporters after the Jets became the first team to beat the Philadelphia Eagles this season, improving their record to 3-3.

Rodgers’ recovery certainly has been remarkable thus far, as there’s no denying he’s way ahead of schedule at this stage. The four-time NFL MVP has not been shy about his intention to try and play again this season, and with the way the Jets have been playing and their schedule lightening up in the coming weeks, he may actually have something worth coming back to.

The Jets will now go into their bye week with a somewhat remarkable .500 record considering what happened to Rodgers in the first offensive drive of their season and the gauntlet of elite quarterbacks they’ve played this season, who Saleh believes they’ve embarrassed.

After their week off, the Jets will be taking on the New York Giants on Sunday, October 29. The 1-5 Giants are facing the prospect of their 2023 season slipping off into the abyss, which means the Jets will likely be betting favorites for the first time this season when the two face off.

Following the Giants game, the Jets have the Chargers, Raiders, Bills, Dolphins (2x), Falcons, Texans, Commanders, Browns, and Patriots left on their schedule.
