Despite the fact that Washington Commanders owner Daniel Snyder is under investigation by Congress, and with the attorneys general of at least six states saying they too may open investigations, his ownership of the Washington Commanders still seems pretty secure.
At least that’s what NFL commissioner Roger Goodell would have everyone believe.
Over the weekend, USA Today reported that one NFL owner said he and the other NFL owners are “counting votes” to see if they have enough to take the Commanders away from Snyder.
“There’s a feeling, a sense of disappointment amongst the owners that I talk to — I don’t talk to them all, but owners who come to the meetings and are active — that he wasn’t suspended,” one team owner told USA Today. “Disappointment that Roger did not act stronger.”
On Tuesday at the league meeting, Roger Goodell was asked if the report of other owners looking to oust Snyder is true.
His response? “I’m not aware of that at all.”
Goodell also added, “Let’s wait and get the facts.”

Snyder and others in the Commanders organization are under investigation over numerous allegations of workplace harassment and financial irregularities.
Attorneys general in the states of New York, Illinois, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Oregon, Washington, as well as in Washington D.C., have all also threatened or begun their own investigations into the team.
In that USA Today report, one NFL owner flat out said, “If [the financial improprieties] happened, I think that’s the nail in the coffin. We are counting votes.”
So it is hard to believe that the NFL commissioner is “not aware” of it – a feeling expressed by many NFL fans when they heard Goodell’s quote.
