Ronda Rousey and Gina Carano are in great shape leading up to their fight on Saturday.

During a recent ESPN interview, Rousey revealed that in 2024 she had convinced Carano, who had gained a bunch of weight at the time, to fight her in hopes that Carano would get back in shape.

“I was nine months pregnant, and I saw a video of Gina Carano giving an interview, and she didn’t look good,” Rousey said. “She gained an unhealthy amount of weight, and my first thought was ‘oh my god, what can I do to help?’ The reason why I had that thought was that she’s the one woman not only in MMA that doesn’t owe me a damn thing but that I owe immensely. I’m always trying to look out what I could do for her.”

Carano decided to accept the fight against Rousey because she wanted to inspire women.

“For women, I think they try to put you out to pasture, like if we’re some Golden Girls already, and I think that we’re learning so much about the human body, I’ve learned so much about what the body is capable of.

“You can do anything, if I can come back and do an MMA fight after all this time, you can definitely reach your goals.”

On Friday, Carano showed off her stunning weight loss, weighing in at 141.2 pounds.
