Shannon Sharpe Crucifies Jameis Winston For Going Rogue On Saints Late Touchdown

Shannon Sharpe was not a fan of Jameis Winston‘s decision to go rogue and ignore New Orleans Saints head coach Dennis Allen on Sunday.

Winston, who was put in the game well after the result was decided, opted not to take a knee and instead handed the ball off to running back Jamaal Williams a touchdown, his first the season.

After the game, Winston admitted that he and his teammates opted to ignore Allen.

“I apologized to [Allen] because the play was ‘Victory.’ But I also explained to D.A that it was a team decision,” Winston told reporters. “I think that when you have a team morale and I asked the guys, ‘What do you want to do?’ We know how much Jamaal means to this team. And I understood from D.A.’s perspective.”

Sharpe was furious at the explanation.

“(It) makes Dennis Allen look like he’s lost control of that locker room,” Sharpe said on First Take. “But I say this, I would cut Jameis Winston today. I would not want him on my team. That’s loser’s mentality.

“And people are saying ‘well Shannon, what about when Dan Marino fake spiked the ball? Or Payton Manning?’ They were not in victory formation. The defense is conceding. If you wanna run the ball, let the defense line up. Don’t you fool ’em, think it’s a victory formation, and then drive off the ball…That’s going rogue. Dennis Allen’s gonna probably have to go. Because his players have no respect for him.”

Sharpe has never been one to hold back when he has something to say. But that’s a scathing indictment of both Winston and Allen.

Winston is a free agent following the season. So he won’t have to be cut.

But Allen may be on the way out the door right behind due to Winston’s decision.
