You know how you know when football season is truly back? When generally unheard of players such as Skyy Moore and Kadarius Toney are the focus of sports fans’ ire due to their lack of fantasy football production.

Take last night’s Thursday Night Football game between the Kansas City Chiefs and Detroit Lions, for example: with future Hall of Fame tight end Travis Kelce sidelined with an industry, the common line of thinking was that receivers such as Moore and Toney would pick up the slack.

As it turned out, though, the opposite was true, as Moore and Toney combined for just one catch and one-yard receiving. Toney also had a back-breaking drop and has since deleted his Twitter account.

Taking to social media as they so often do, fantasy football players lit into both Moore and Toney with a stream of hilarious memes.

Toney wasn’t alone in making a game-changing drop, though, as Moore also missed the opportunity to make a potentially game-saving catch with the Chiefs facing 4th-and-25 with about two minutes left.

This guy even saw the Moore-related disappointment coming from a mile away.

It was an ugly night for the Chiefs offense, perhaps best evidenced by the fact that Mahomes threw his first-ever interception in a Week One game. Prior to Monday night’s matchup against the Chiefs, Mahomes had thrown 18 touchdowns and zero picks in Week One games.

On the flip side of the coin is that the result was an excellent one for the Detroit Lions, who were able to back up the preseason chatter of them being a legitimate threat in the NFC.

The Chiefs will be off until September 17, when they will look to get their season off and running against the Jacksonville Jaguars, who, similar to the Lions, are considered to be an exciting and upcoming team.

As for the Lions, they’ll look to keep their early season momentum rolling when they take on the Seattle Seahawks in Week 2.
