Spencer Rattler’s college career has not gone as he had planned thus far. Now that the former five-star recruit is at South Carolina, he is hoping to get things back on track with an incredible year that sets him up for the NFL.
In Rattler’s first year as the starter for Oklahoma, he went 9-2 in 11 games, completed 67.5% of his passes for 3,031 yards and 28 touchdowns, and led the Sooners to a Cotton Bowl win over Florida. In year two, despite being benched for Caleb Williams midway through the year, Rattler completed nearly 75% of his passes for 1,483 yards and 11 touchdowns in six games.
Although he has received a lot of criticism, it’s hard to scoff at his box score numbers. Now, in 2022, Rattler is hopeful that the statistical success will translate to wins on the field.
By all accounts, he is well on his way. Rattler has already put on a good bit of weight, his best throw during the Gamecocks’ spring game makes it hard not to buy the hype, and his teammates have made it very clear that he is not easy to defend.
Now that spring practice and the semester are over, Rattler is back home in Arizona and has been working with his private coach Mike Giovando. The two have worked together since the 21-year-old quarterback was in middle school.
In a new video from his most recent workout session, Spencer Rattler’s athleticism and arm were on full display.
The drill includes recovering a ball off of the bounce while in motion, setting his grip and feet, and delivering a deep ball on the move. Rattler didn’t miss a beat and dropped an absolute dime.
Little fun to wrap up some great work today some hand eye coordination with movement deep ball touch throw from @SpencerRattler to #rickypearsall with the assist from yours truly @elev8academy @quarterbackmag pic.twitter.com/C1h46jt0pw

Obviously, throwing against air doesn’t really mean anything, but if Rattler can translate his training onto the field against a defense, he could cause some problems across the SEC. What a throw!
