Steelers linebacker Kwon Alexander had some strong thoughts on the future of the NFL.

During a recent interview with Alan Saunders of SteelersNow, the hit hitting linebacker said he believes that the NFL is heading towards becoming a flag football league within the next three to four years.

Kwon Alexander’s comments follow those of NFL legend Tom Brady, who also voiced his concerns about the future of the sport, suggesting that it’s gradually turning into something resembling flag football.

Expressing his frustration, Alexander stated, “They’re making it hard for us. I don’t really know what the game is coming to, for real. I don’t know how to stop from tackling someone around the waist. I give it about three or four years, and I think they’re going to go to flag.”

Alexander added: “You can get hurt at any time doing this. Trying to stop somebody from making a tackle like that, it’s going to be hard. I don’t even know a technique to make that tackle another way. If it happens, it happens. You could be at any angle trying to tackle somebody — you can’t go high. Where are you going to be able to go?”

Expressing concern for his fellow players, he added, “I just hope they don’t fine anybody for that stuff. We’ve got families to feed. They’ve got to slow that down.”

The NFL is believed to be looking into banning the hip drop tackle this offseason, that will make things much harder on defenders.
