The Texas A&M baseball program entered the 2026 season as a bit of an unknown.

In 2024, the Aggies reached the finals of the College World Series, where they just barely fell to Tennessee in three games. However, head coach Jim Schlossnagle then left the program for rival Texas, allowing assistant Mike Earley to take over in College Station.

Earley struggled in his first season in charge, going 30-26 and missing the postseason. Texas A&M entered this season ranked No. 25, and Earley and company largely delivered in the regular season, going 39-13 and reaching the regionals of the NCAA Tournament as a host.

However, in the regionals, Texas A&M was eliminated by USC, bringing an end to what some would call a successful second year.

Apparently, Amy Chestnut is not “some…”

Amy Chestnut Slams Texas A&M Baseball Coach Mike Earley

Chestnut, whose son Travis was a 24-year-old utility player for the Aggies, took to social media on Thursday night to discuss her disappontment with not only the way the season ended, but also with Earley.

“Mike Earley had one of the most talented rosters and couldn’t even get out of his own regional,” Chestnut said in a since-altered Instagram post. “A roster loaded with talent that failed to reach its potential.

Chestnut then went back and changed the post after receiving significant backlash in the comments. However, she still made her feelings extremely clear, especially when it came to her own son’s playing time.

Travis’ ability to get on base, create pressure, manufacture runs, and impact games with his speed made him a valuable part of one of the best teams in program history,” she added. “I wish he was utilized more this season to help the team….especially on the bases!

The truth is, there was more than enough talent on this roster to do even more. A lot of players proved they could contribute when given the chance, and some simply didn’t get the opportunities they deserved.”

Yikes. We’d call that a bad look for Earley. However, there’s a catch. As it turns out, Chestnut made a similar post about Schlossnagle in 2024.

So perhaps Amy Chestnut just doesn’t like any coach…or at least any coach that won’t play her son more.
