Colorado football lost to USC and Oregon, and played close with Arizona State without Travis Hunter Jr. in each of the last three weeks. The former No. 1 overall recruit, who originally committed to play for Deion Sanders at Jackson State, was licked during the first quarter of a win over Colorado State in Week 3.

It was a nasty dirty hit that left Hunter with pretty significant pain. Although he played through the remainder of the first half — because he’s a DAWG — the team trainers suggested that a hospital trip would be a good idea.

His injury ultimately ended up being a lacerated liver, which left his timeline for a return completely up in the air and ultimately put him out for a little bit less than a month. Hunter played a big role from the sideline during the time away.

Cormani McClain, the top-ranked cornerback in the college football recruiting Class of 2023, was much better against USC because of Hunter’s coaching after getting called out publicly by Coach Prime. Unfortunately, McClain couldn’t keep it up during his first-career start against Arizona State and was benched.

Hunter’s absence in the secondary really hurt the Buffaloes against the Sun Devils. His lack of presence was felt during the entire time that he was out, especially in the two losses.

Travis Hunter Jr. is back!

Hunter wanted to play after the Oregon game. Sanders preferred that his best player (other than maybe his son) take the time necessary to get fully healthy.

That took a little while, but Hunter got cleared for practice earlier this week. And then he made a return during Friday’s night game against a bad Stanford team.

All eyes were on the two-way superstar as he took the field for warmups. There were a ridiculous amount of cameras following him around on the field in pregame.

The increased camera presence was even greater in the end zone as he made a one-handed snag in the most casual manner.

That’s Coach Prime’s Colorado! Cameras everywhere.
