Two-way player Travis Hunter made his return to practice this week ahead of Colorado’s PAC 12 matchup against Stanford. It’s led many to question whether he’ll be back in action this Friday.

Hunter has been a star thus far in Boulder, playing both sides of the ball at the highest level. On offense, he’s racked up 16 catches and 213 receiving yards. On defense, he’s tallied nine tackles and an interception.

Unfortunately, the dynamic threat was knocked out of action during a matchup against rival Colorado State. While attempting to pull down a reception, he was hit by CSU defender Henry Blackburn. Many called that hit a cheap shot as Hunter had no real chance of hauling in the pass.

The unexpected blow sent Hunter to the hospital with a lacerated liver.

He’s now missed the last three Colorado games, two of which were losses to USC and Oregon. Deion Sanders had previously mentioned his intention to hold his star player out until the Buffs’ bye week, but it seems Hunter has a different timetable in mind.

Travis Hunter has returned to practice based on footage from Darius Sanders, running it back with the first-team defense. He was seen making an impressive interception over wideout Omarion Miller on Monday.

Hunter’s desire to return to the playing field has been widely publicized. He’s been begging Coach Prime to let him suit up dating back to the USC game, a request that’s been denied to this point.

If Sanders has his way, Hunter will remain on the sidelines for one more weekend. Colorado will be favored against Stanford with or without their superstar on Friday the 13th.

Travis Hunter, meanwhile, is trying to force his head coach’s hand into an early return.
