Tua Tagovailoa Makes Tone Deaf Comment About ‘Humiliating Teams’ After Dropping 70 On The Broncos

Tua Tagovailoa and the Miami Dolphins offense made history over the weekend by dropping 70 points on Sean Payton’s Denver Broncos.

By hitting the 70-point mark via seven offensive touchdowns, the Dolphins became the first team since Washington in 1966 to cross that threshold. That Washington team, in fact, remains the record-holder with 72 points scored in a game.

After the game, however, Tua Tagovailoa seemed to have a complete misunderstanding of the situation, as he said the Dolphins chose not to kick another field goal to set the NFL points record because “We’re not trying to humiliate teams.”

While Tua’s comments are ridiculous considering the fact that dropping 70 points on a team is an embarrassment and a humiliation in and of itself, the Dolphins were certainly in an interesting position on Sunday.

In the fourth quarter, the team brought in some backups, who are obviously going to try as hard as possible in order to impress their coaches. It’s not as if they’re just going to fall over and stop trying. In fact, that would almost be more disrespectful towards the Broncos.

In the game against Sean Payton’s lowly Broncos, Tua completed 23 of 26 passes for 309 yards and four touchdowns. Even backup Mike White through a touchdown pass despite only attempting two passes.

Tyreek Hill left the Dolphins’ receivers with nine catches for 157 yards and a touchdown, while rookie running back De’Von Achane dominated on the grounding with 18 carries for 203 yards and two touchdowns. Veteran tailback Raheem Mostert also chipped in with another 13 carries for 82 yards and three touchdowns.

Tua and the Dolphins will face the biggest test of their 2023 season so far when they head up to Buffalo to take on Josh Allen and the Bills in a game that could go a long way in determining who wins the AFC East this year.
