USC is taking hilarious measures to prep for potential rain at Notre Dame this Saturday. Trojans coaches have been spraying punt returners down with a hose in order to simulate the inclement weather.

Videos of the, um, interesting approach have now made their way to social media causing an incredible reaction from college football followers.

Showers are expected to make their way into South Bend this week and hang around until Saturday. At last check, there is a 70% chance of rain on game day, and the Trojans are doing everything they can to prepare for the bleak forecast.

Coaches were seen spraying down their punt returners with a hose as they fielded kicks. Maybe it’s the best way to replicate the conditions in Los Angeles, where it’s been sunny and 75 degrees all week.

You have to respect the ingenuity.

Fans immediately responded to the hilarious training method online.

“Looks like Notre Dame will be fielding a bunch of muffed punts,” one follower said, noting a dropped attempt in the video.

“It’s optimistic for USC to think they’ll force a Notre Dame punt,” someone else wrote, a jab at the Trojans’ porous defensive unit.

“They should probably work on tackling instead of spraying water,” this person commented.

“Now we know why Lincoln Riley never wants his practices open to the public,” quipped another fan.

Jokes aside, the rivalry between the Trojans and Fighting Irish should provide plenty of entertainment for college football viewers. USC is looking to stay undefeated in hopes of making its first playoff appearance. Notre Dame’s championship hopes took a hit after last week’s loss to Louisville, but they’ll still look to play spoiler.

Southern Cal leads the all-time series 50-37-5, including winning last year’s matchup 37-28. The Irish won the last meeting in South Bend, though, and the forecast should play to their advantage given a strong rushing attack and massive offensive line.

We’ll see if the Trojans’ pregame preparations make a difference on Saturday.
