After flying relatively under the radar for several seasons out West, the College Football world isn’t ready for Washington State Cougars QB Cameron Ward to transfer to a proper contender. But that could be a very real possibility if the rumors of Cam Ward’s stack of NIL offers are true.

The dude is incredibly fun to watch and he’s put up a 25-7 TD-INT split this season with the Cougars while averaging a 144.4 QB rating over his collegiate career. There are more than a handful of schools that would be immediate contenders next season if he used his graduate transfer option and came back for another season.

Jacob Davis of Hawg Country spoke with (listen here) former Washington Huskies and NFL QB Brock Huard who is now a college football analyst for FOX, and Huard says that “Wazzu star QB Cameron Ward has up to ten $1mil offers to transfer.”

Among the schools rumored to be going after Cam Ward are Notre Dame, in-state rival Washington, Auburn, Oregon, and the Texas A&M Aggies.

There are several angles this could send shockwaves through the College Football world. First, if the rumored money is true, those offers are ENORMOUS and he’s getting them 10x over.

To be sure, he wouldn’t be the only player in College Football raking in money like that. But depending on if/where Cam Ward chose to transfer, coming in earning the most NIL money could immediately reset the potential earnings for other players in that theoretical locker room.

Texas A&M, for example, is rumored to have an average NIL valuation of $85K/player. Would the rest of the locker room be okay with someone showing up and immediately earning 12x the average? And what does that do for the long-term valuations of NIL deals awarded at a school or would it be viewed as a one-off situation?

Secondly, if a team like Auburn, Texas A&M, or Notre Dame were to land Cameron Ward as a graduate transfer they would immediately be in the ‘contender’ discussion for next year. Washington and Oregon are already contenders and they’d immediately maintain their success into next season.

And there are a LOT of fringe programs who, with the addition of Cam Ward, would become College Football Playoffs contenders next season with the Playoffs expanding to 12 teams. 247 Sports has Ward’s transfer rating as 4* and 93 out of 100.

It remains to be seen if these rumored 10 NIL offers of $1 million will sway Cameron Ward in any way. But he would be cleared by the NCAA to transfer a second time as a graduate transfer should he choose to go down that route. Either way, watch the movement around Cam Ward after this season as it could send some pretty big shockwaves through the NIL and College Football landscape.
