Western Michigan’s social media team grossed everyone out with a now-deleted post ahead of a football matchup against Mississippi State. The promotional graphic showed a Broncos player chasing down a Bulldog with the caption, “Ready to EAT!”

After receiving some criticism from followers online, the post was removed from the account’s feed. As is the case with the internet, though, nothing truly disappears.

Game Week posts are nothing new. Every team in college football does them. Some are more creative while others get straight to the point, but the main objective is to inform fans of the time, location, and opponent while pumping some excitement into the matchup.

The goal is certainly not to weird your following out.

We’ve seen plenty of failed graphics along the way, including this accidentally explicit phallic cactus attempt from the Broncos’ upcoming foe.

This Western Michigan-Mississippi State image ranks near the top of the list based on instant reaction from followers.

Please don’t eat the dog, Western Michigan.”

“Remind me to never eat in Kalamazoo.”

“This just isn’t right.”

“Should’ve looked at the schedule before deciding to EAT every gameday.”

One fan even hilariously tagged PETA in fear that something could happen to Bully, the beloved Bulldogs mascot.

The player in the graphic, tight end Blake Bosma, even caught a few strays.

EAT is a hashtag being used by the football team this season, though it backfired epically in this latest instance.

And EAT they have not thus far this season.

Western Michigan enters the matchup with Mississippi State at just 2-3.

After taking down FCS foe Saint Francis in the season opener, the Broncos have dropped three of their last four contests. That includes blowout losses to Iowa and Syracuse, as well as a second-half collapse against Toledo.

In that MAC opener, Western Michigan blew a 10-point halftime lead, being outscored 35-7 in the final 30 minutes of play. They were able to nab their first conference win last weekend by beating Ball State, but they’ll likely be in for another defeat against their upcoming SEC foe.

Regardless of the outcome on Saturday, they’ve clearly taken an L in the pregame preparations.
