Football weather is well and truly here as reports indicate the Kansas City Chiefs vs. Miami Dolphins Wild Card round game at Arrowhead Stadium could be one of the coldest games in NFL history.

According to the National Weather Service, when the Chiefs and the Dolphins kick off at 8 p.m. EST on Saturday night, the temperature in Kansas City, Missouri is projected around 5 degrees with a wind chill of -10 to -20.

If that projection holds up, then this will become the coldest game that the Dolphins have ever played in, which isn’t great news for them, considering they’ve lost 10 straight games when the kickoff temperature is 40 degrees or below.

Likely due to the weather, tickets for the game are reportedly being sold for as cheap as $69.

I know what you’re thinking: what was the temperature of that famous 2008 New York Giants vs. Green Bay Packers game that saw Tom Coughlin’s face turn to a shade of red previously unbeknownst to man? That Lambeau Field set matchup was played in -4 degree weather with a wind chill of -24.

The fact that the warm weather Miami Dolphins find themselves in this game is particularly brutal as it’s due to their home loss to the Buffalo Bills on the final day of the season. Had the Dolphins beaten the Bills, they would’ve hosted their Wild Card round game against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

The snow also likely hinders the speed with which the Dolphins play on offense, which is arguably their greatest weapon thanks to the likes of Tyreek Hill, Jaylen Waddle, and Devon Achane.

Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs are heading into the matchup as 3.5-point favorites against Tua Tagovailoa and the Dolphins.
