Following two miserable weeks of experimenting with clearly unqualified journeyman Tim Boyle, the New York Jets decided to revert to Zach Wilson as their starting quarterback.

Speaking to the media this week ahead of his return to the field, Wilson discussed how he’s going to approach these final few games differently, indicating that he’s going to have more fun than ever before.

“I’m going to have more fun than I’ve ever had, in a professional way,” Wilson said during a press conference on Wednesday.

“I think any opportunity that you get in this League is a good one. I think more than anything, the love and care I have for these guys, especially this year…. For some reason, it has been challenging, I think everyone has felt that, but I am extremely excited to get back on the field with these guys.”

Wilson also addressed reports from The Athletic that he was “reluctant” to return to the starting lineup and doubled down on his denial.

“I’ve never once said that to anybody in this locker room, that I wouldn’t want to play,” he said.

Wilson will now be the Jets’ starter for their upcoming Week 14 home game against the Houston Texans and presumably for the rest of the season.

Naturally, given the erratic nature of Wilson’s play and how he’s been handled by the coaching staff, Jets fans are nervous about the type of performance that the third-year QB might put forth on Sunday.

In addition to the Houston Texans, the Jets also have the Miami Dolphins, Washington Commanders, Cleveland Browns, and New England Patriots remaining on their schedule.

Even if Wilson does perform well in these final few games, it’s difficult to imagine him still being Aaron Rodgers’ backup next season given all of the baggage he and the franchise now have.
