Diddy Is Meeting With Investors And Might Actually Be Serious About Buying The Carolina Panthers

Last week, Carolina Panthers majority owner Jerry Richardson announced he would be selling the team after the NFL revealed they were launching an investigation concerning multiple instances of “workplace misconduct” in a move that totally didn’t make him look guilty at all. Early reports indicate the sale could fetch a price tag of up to $2.8 billion, which— by most accounts— is a fuckton of money.

Almost immediately after Richardson’s issued his statement, people began to wonder who would be willing to drop that kind of cash on an NFL team. Forbes published an article naming possible buyers, which included Mark Cuban (who has gone on to say he has no interest in buying the franchise) as well as Jeff Bezos, who could take another step towards cornering every single market in the world.

On Sunday, one seemingly unlikely candidate threw his hat into the ring: Diddy, who said he wanted to fight the lack of diversity in regard to the league’s unanimously white ownership (he would be the first black owner in the history of the league). He quickly proclaimed one of his first moves would be to sigh Colin Kaepernick, who hopped on Twitter to express his interest in being part of the ownership group.

Diddy has an estimated net worth of $820 million, so while his announcement managed to cause quite a stir, it seemed unlikely that he’d be able to follow through. However, Yahoo Sports’ Chris Robinson reports The Artist Formerly Known As Sean Combs is planning on meeting with potential investors and that Kaepernick has already begun to reach out to potentially interested parties.

It might be a longshot, but if Diddy is really serious about purchasing the Panthers, it’s a virtual guarantee this will be one hell of a saga.
