Charlize Theron compared media coverage of her personal life to rape

Charlize Theron is yet another celebrity who apparently really bad at metaphors as she went and compared media coverage of her personal life to rape. Gwyneth Paltrow doing something stupid like that we kind of get, she’s an idiot, but dammit Charlize…

During an interview with Sky News, the Oscar-winning actress was asked whether she reads coverage of herself on the Internet and she insisted she tries to avoid looking up stories online.

She went on to compare coverage of her private life to being sexually violated, saying, “I don’t do that (Google myself). So that’s my saving grace. I think it’s when you start living in that world and doing that that you start… I guess feeling raped.”

They even gave her a chance to backtrack on that remark, and well, she didn’t…

When quizzed as to whether she meant to use rape as a comparable sentiment, the actress replied: “Well, when it comes to your son and your private life. Maybe it’s just me. Some people might relish in all that stuff but there are certain things in my life that I think of as very sacred and I am very protective over them.

“I don’t always win that war but as long as I don’t have to see that stuff or read that stuff or hear that stuff then I can live with my head in a clear space, which is probably a lot healthier than living in that dark room,” Charlize continued.

Goddammit, Theron, using the word war as well? Now we have to go and lump you in with Paltrow and K-Stew. That’s baaad company to be in, my friend.

Here’s a thought. If you don’t want media coverage of you to be negative stop using rape metaphors. Just sayin’.
