Give the Fast & Furious franchise some credit: for a brand that’s known for it’s inherent silliness, the studio behind the films — Universal Pictures — was ahead of the curve when it came to the raft of film delays that happened last year, as they immediately and wisely opted to bump the film to the summer of 2021 instead of trying to force itself into theaters like Tenet did. And like No Time To Die. And Wonder Woman 1984. You get the point.
Finally, though, F9 has arrived in theaters, and for the first time in a long time, it feels like we have a true summer blockbuster even films on our hands.
While F9 officially hit theaters today — Friday, June 25 — screenings began on the evening of June 24, which resulted in plenty of hilarious reactions from fans who finally got to see the film they’ve been waiting over a year for.

I heard they called it #F9 because Street Racing Car Thieves in Outer Space was already taken.

As for where the Fast & Furious franchise goes from here, Universal Pictures and franchise star Vin Diesel have confirmed that it’ll wrap up after Fast 11, which means they plan on making two more movies. That said, I’m willing to be the franchise is spun-off into something new, similar to Hobbs & Shaw, after that.
F9 — which stars Vin Diesel, Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson, Chris “Ludacris” Bridges, John Cena, Jordana Brewster, Nathalie Emmanuel, Sung Kang, Helen Mirren, and Charlize Theron — is NOW in theaters. Man, does it feel good to say that.
