During the 96th Academy Awards on Sunday, host Jimmy Kimmel took a jab at Donald Trump after the indicted former President posted about Kimmel’s performance during the broadcast.

While the Oscars were live on-air, Kimmel took to the stage to read Trump’s post on Truth Social about his performance as host and closed out the barb with a comment about his potential jail time, as Trump is currently facing 91 criminal charges.

On the Monday episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live!, Kimmel further discussed the moment and poked more fun at Trump.

“After the show, everyone I ran into was asking me, ‘Was that real?’ I was like, ‘Of course it was real!'” Kimmel explained during his monologue on Monday night.

“And it kind of tells you all you need to know about Donald Trump. He wrote this because he was upset I didn’t mention him on the show. No one mentioned him on the show. He wasn’t getting any attention, he couldn’t stand it. And so the Adderall McFlurry kicked in and he went right on [mimics typing on a cell phone].”

“I wasn’t planning to mention him at all. We were backstage, the show’s almost over, and one of the writers was like, ‘Hey, look at this.’ To quote Al Pacino, just when I thought I was out, they pulled me back in. And I had to read it. We had John Cena naked on stage and somehow Trump still managed to be the biggest d— of the night.”

Kimmel’s digital interaction with Trump wasn’t the only moment of his hosting stint to go viral, as reactions to his jokes from Emma Stone and Robert Downey Jr. also made headlines due to their seemingly annoyed responses.

Similarly, Kimmel has also been receiving backlash for a joke he made about Martin Scorsese’s Killers of the Flower Moon and the Osage murders during the telecast.
