Justin Baldoni and his wife have broken their silence on Blake Lively

Justin Baldoni has spoken out publicly for the first time following the conclusion of his legal battle with actress Blake Lively. Lively and Baldoni were co-stars in the film It Ends with Us, which Baldoni also directed.

The lawsuits began in December 2024 when Blake Lively filed a complaint with the California Civil Rights Department alleging that Justin Baldoni, his production company and PR team in It Ends With Us sexually harassed her and orchestrated a smear campaign against her during the film’s press tour.

Baldoni countersued for $400 million on allegations of extortion and defamation, while simultaneously suing the New York Times for libel over its reporting on the dispute. Both of those cases which were dismissed in June 2025.

Back in March, a judge tossed out 10 of Lively’s 13 allegations, leading the two sides to settle just two weeks before the trial was set to begin in May. In the settlement, neither side received money nor an apology, which Baldoni’s lawyers hailed as being a “total victory” — an opinion that also seems to be held in the court of public opinion.

“Let’s be clear, this is a win and total victory for the Wayfarer parties,” Baldoni’s lawyer Bryan Freedman said after the settlement. “The court had already dismissed 10 of Ms. Lively’s 13 claims, including every sexual harassment claim, every defamation claim, and all claims against the individual defendants… In our view, they settled because they knew they were going to lose in court.”

Justin Baldoni and his wife Emily spoke publicly for the first time since his lawyer declared a “total victory” over Blake Lively in court

On Wednesday, July 8, Baldoni and his wife Emily posted a joint Instagram video addressing the legal battle and its emotional toll for the first time since Lively filed her complaint against him in December 2024.

“We have not spoken publicly for the better part of the last two years, and it’s not because we haven’t had anything to say — because Lord knows we have. But it just felt like every time we went to make a video like this where we wanted to speak, something was telling us not to. It just didn’t feel like the right time,” Baldoni said.

“We are healing. And if you’ve ever been through something traumatic, you know that healing isn’t linear,” he added.

Baldoni was joined in the video by his wife Emily, who also weighed in, calling their experience in recent years an “injustice.”

“I also feel that it’s important as we say that, in that gratitude, it doesn’t negate the injustice and the pain that we have also felt in the last few years,” Emily said.

“We’ve had to wrestle with so many things and try to understand so many things, like how could something like this even happen? Let alone disguised as a fight for women. So much to unpack. There is so much more to say, and that time will come. But for now, we are going to focus on continuing the healing and hanging out with our kiddos.”

The video comes as Baldoni and Wayfarer Studios face a July 13 deadline to respond to Lively’s request for $8,035,040.88 in attorneys’ fees — either agreeing to pay or challenging the figure in court.
