Prince’s Official Cause Of Death Has Now Been Confirmed By Local Law Enforcement

It’s been several weeks since music icon Prince passed away at age 57 and in that time there has been much speculation as to his cause of death, but now we finally have an answer.

According to the Associated Press, local law enforcement has stated that tests show Prince died of an opioid overdose.

It was six days before his death that his plane had to make an emergency landing where Prince reportedly had to receive treatment for an overdose of Percocet, an opiod. The AP did not disclose what opiod was found in his system at the time of his death.

Ironically, on the day of his death Prince was supposed to meet with Andrew Kornfeld, the son of addiction specialist Dr. Howard Kornfeld, to help treat Prince and was the one who ended up calling 911.

A funeral for the singer is planned for August.
