Drag Race Between 2018 Ford GT And The 2018 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon – Who Ya Got?

If someone was to give you a 2018 Ford GT or a 2018 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon, you would be sitting pretty with two extremely capable vehicles. But which of these two speed demons would you want in a drag race? That question was asked this past week when the YouTube channel DragTimes pitted a 2018 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon against a 2018 Ford GT.

Strictly looking at what’s under the hood, the Demon should smoke the Ford GT. The Demon boasts a 6.2-liter Hemi V-8 engine with 2.7-liter supercharger. The Ford GT has a 3.5-liter twin-turbocharged V-6 pumping out 647 horsepower. The Demon gets extra juice in this race by guzzling 100 octane fuel that increases the horsepower from 808 to 840 HP. The Demon got all gussied up for the race by donning “Demon Crate” skinny tires in the front and wide Mickey Thomspon drag radials in the rear.

Last February, an ambitious driver took their Dodge Challenger SRT Demon to the Johnny Bohmer Proving Ground in Florida and reached a neck-snapping speed of 203 mph in only 60 seconds. Meanwhile the 2018 Ford GT is no slouch, this rocketship on wheels has a top speed of 216 mph.

DragTimes brought these two mean machines to the WannaGoFast South Florida runway racing event last week. In the battle of the 200+ mph beasts, the 2018 Ford GT was able to slightly beat out the 2018 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon. Despite the GT having significantly less power, the Ford had a track-ravaging speed of 157.784 mile-per-hour compared to the Dodge’s 157.123 in the half-mile drag race.

What the Dodge has in pure power the Ford makes up in being more aerodynamic and lighter since it is constructed from lightweight carbon. The Ford GT weighs in at 3,400 pounds and the Demon is a hefty 4,280 pounds. However, if you’re looking at which car is worth the money, the Demon starts at a bargain price of $83,295, whereas the Ford GT supercar costs a whopping $450,000.

The drag race starts around the 5:10-mark of the video from DragTimes.
