Josh Elliott leaves ‘GMA’ for NBC. Network doesn’t allow him to say goodbye

Late last night word leaked that Josh Elliott had left GMA for a spot at NBC sports. This morning he was nowhere to be seen on the show, a place he had called home for three years. The sudden reshuffling of the deck was addressed by host George Stephanapoulos. It was awkward to say the least.

Wow, no final show, no goodbye message, no goodbye tweet, nothing. I guess that’s what happens when you leave for a competitor. Naturally, fans were angry, many of them unaware of the news last night.

With Elliott on the show, GMA soared to the top of the ratings, beating out competitor TODAY. Contract negotiations broke down with Elliott after he asked for a reported $8 million per year deal. He will work Sunday Night Football and the Olympics for NBC.
