Another week, another impressive showing by Arch Manning. The nation’s No. 1 overall recruit in the class of 2023 played less than the first half and still went off for five touchdowns.

Through four games this season, the 6-foot-4, 215-pound junior has accounted for 19 total touchdowns without an interception. And he hasn’t even played the equivalent of three full games.

During last night’s game against Fisher, Manning was perfect. Literally.

On the Greenies’ opening drive, Manning took his only two carries of the night for 16 yards and scored on a quarterback sneak to get the scoring started.

After that, it was a barrage through the air. Manning casually went 11-of-11 for 179 yards and four touchdowns before the clock could even reach the 10-minute mark in the second quarter.

Although much of Manning’s success came with screens and check-downs, that was the game plan.

Fisher was dropping into coverage to prevent the nephew of Peyton and Eli from going deep, so he threw the ball where the defense wasn’t.

“They were dropping eight all night so the short stuff and the run game was there,” he said to NOLA.com. “I think we had a good week of practice, and we went in and executed the plays that were called.”

Manning came out of the game with 34 minutes remaining and Newman went on to win the game 70-0. They will face a much bigger challenge this upcoming week, in what is perhaps the biggest game of Newman’s regular season.

The Greenies will face their district rival St. Charles Catholic at Southeastern Louisiana University and Manning will be truly tested for the first time this year. Thus far, he has shown his ability to run through defenders, throw the ball deep over top, dice defenses with both his arm and his legs, and punt.

He’s the truth.
