Hot off his win in the PGA Championship, Brooks Koepka went on a party tour of South Florida before heading north to play in the LIV Golf DC event at the Trump National.

Speaking with reporters over Memorial Day Weekend, the 5-time Major Championship winner spoke confidently about his ability to win 5 or more majors in the future.

Tom D’Angelo of the Palm Beach Post wrote on Tuesday about Brooks’ recent success and shared quotes from Koepka’s DC appearance over the weekend.

A confident Brooks Koepka signaled that he plans on winning double the major championship trophies he already has. Koepka was quoted as saying:

“I’ve always said double digits. I think I’ve said that a few times. But yeah, I don’t think it’s unreasonable. The last few years — it was just kind of like last year — I felt absent from the majors, but even in ’20 right after my surgery, or ’21, I was still contending.”

“I don’t see any reason why I can’t. Your prime in golf is probably 30 to 40, so I’ve got another few good years in me.”

For context, there are only 12 golfers in history who have won more than 5 majors. There are only 3 golfers who have ever made it to double digits: Walter Hagen (11), Tiger Woods (15), and Jack Nicklaus (18).

When asked about playing in the 123rd U.S. Open at the Los Angeles Country Club in 2 weeks. Brooks Koepka said the only thing he remembered about the course was Hugh Hefner’s former home:

“I think the only thing I remember about it is the Playboy Mansion is off one of the holes, but that’s all. So I remember that. But other than that, I have really no recollection of any hole.”

Speaking about his knee injury, Brooks also described a ‘new normal.’ I’ve torn the lateral meniscus on my right knee twice and dealt with some additional ligament damage. Hearing the way he describes ‘the new normal’ here really hits home:

“I knew it was stable. It’s not going to do anything. But there was doubt for a very long time … you’re like, ‘man, is this ever going to be normal.'”

“And you start thinking this is the new normal and you don’t ever get back to what it was. It was just a big difference between being able to do things and actually feeling like … just feeling like yourself again.”

Coincidentally, Florida State Golf just advanced to the Division 1 semifinals where they’ll face their in-state rival Florida Gators this afternoon. The last time the Seminoles made it this far, Brooks Koepka was on the team:

On the FSU vs Illinois broadcast earlier on the Golf Channel, the commentators said Brooks Koepka texted the team prior to today’s match and shared advice on how to win. Apparently, whatever he said worked.

Brooks is a 2-time U.S. Open winner (2018, 2019). But it has been about 13 years since he last played a round at the Los Angeles Country Club which will be an x-factor.
