Callaway and Good Good are facing backlash for an ad that shows a man shoving a woman to the ground

Callaway Golf and Good Good Golf are facing backlash for an ad that depicted a man shoving a woman to the ground on a golf course. While the ad was quickly deleted, it still went viral on social media.

Titled “THE DRIVER,” the ad — produced by Good Good to promote the new Callaway Quantum Driver — shows Good Good member Garrett Clark shoving a woman who reaches toward his golf bag to the ground, warning her, “Do not touch my new driver.”

The reaction to the ad has been uniform and widespread, with the entire golf world ripping the two companies for the ad and wondering how something like this could even get approved in the first place.

“Callaway is a publicly traded company… genuinely how did this advertisement make it out of a single review period, let alone publication,” one tweet aptly wondered.

“I still don’t understand how this ad got green lit. Golf is not a contact sport like football. There should be 0 appeal to pushing women like this. So why are we advertising to a younger demographic that this kind of stuff is funny?” a second asked.

At the time of this writing, neither Good Good nor Callaway has issued a statement addressing the ad or its deletion.

Good Good is a golf content creator group and YouTube channel founded in 2020 that features amateur and semi-professional golfers — Garrett Clark, Grant Horvat, Matt Scharff, Bubbie, and others — who produce challenge videos, course vlogs, and competition content, in addition to selling branded golf polos, hats, accessories, and equipment.

Callaway, on the other hand, is one of the blue-chip brands of the golf world, as it was founded in 1982 and is currently the world’s largest manufacturer of golf clubs.
