You don’t even need to be a college football fan to be familiar with the undying hatred that defines the fierce rivalry between Michigan and THE Ohio State University, as there is absolutely no love lost between the players, fans, and alumni who root for the Wolverines and the Buckeyes.

That sheer amount of mutual disrespect is manifested in a wide variety of ways, and many people on both sides of the feud are always ready to pounce on every and any chance to do some trolling at the expense of their bitter foe.

That includes certain situations where those differences probably should’ve been checked at the door, which is arguably the case with what unfolded at the 2021 Heisman Trophy ceremony.

During last year’s presentation, former Michigan wide receiver Desmond Howard couldn’t stop himself from piling on Buckeyes quarterback C.J. Stroud after Wolverines defensive end Aidan Hutchinson chirped his fellow nominee. However, the 1991 Heisman winner issued an apology after catching some heat from people who took issue with his decision to undermine the spirit of the night by firing a shot at Ohio State’s offensive line.

It’s been close to a year since that awkward moment transpired, but there’s at least one person who hasn’t let it go: former Ohio State QB Cardale Jones.

On Monday night, Howard tried to spark some discussion by asking fans to chime in on Twitter after Stroud, Stetson Bennett, Max Duggan, and (presumed winner) Caleb Williams were revealed to be the official quartet of nominees for the 2022 Heisman Trophy.

However, Jones used the message as an excuse to bring Howard’s comments back into the spotlight while advising him to take a backseat during this year’s ceremony.

Howard apparently woke up early on Tuesday morning and chose violence based on his response, as he reminded Jones he actually knows what it’s like to stand on the stage as a nominee before using the ex-Buckeye’s infamous “We Ain’t Come To Play School” tweet against him.

Point: Desmond.
