QB Carson Beck is set to resume his college football career in South Florida as a member of the Miami Hurricanes. The passer made the transfer portal move this offseason after spending five years at Georgia.
His most recent campaign was cut short by injury in the SEC Championship Game. He’s now looking to get back to form at his new school.
Beck has a decorated resume dating back to his time with the Bulldogs. As a junior, he paced the conference in passing while leading his team to a 13-1 record. As a senior, he positioned Georgia to make a run in the College Football Playoff.
The Bulldogs went 10-2 in the regular season to earn a spot in the league’s title matchup. That game would be his last in the Peach State.
Carson Beck tore the UCL in his throwing arm against the Longhorns. He was replaced by youngster Gunner Stockton, who was able to lead a championship game comeback. The win boosted the Bulldogs into the CFP, where they’d eventually fall to Notre Dame.
Beck was up and down in his final season in Athens. He threw a career-high 12 interceptions while seeing a dip in passing production. Rather than return to a potential QB controversy in 2025, he opted for a fresh start.
Carson Beck began the rehab process after transferring to Miami.
The signal caller hopped in the portal and quickly landed a $4 million NIL offer from the Hurricanes, who were looking to replace No. 1 overall pick Cam Ward. He’s fully expected to be the starter next year.
Beck reportedly rejected a return to Georgia in order to take the reins at Miami. The program put all of its eggs in the basket despite a lengthy recovery process.
“He’s not throwing the ball yet,” said Mario Cristobal in February. “But he’s very close to doing so.”
Beck did not participate in the Miami spring game. He’s yet to throw to his new receivers in an organized practice setting. This week, he shared his progress with a post of his offseason training.

Carson Beck posted a video of his passing in a short clip on Instagram. The one throw doesn’t mean much in the grand scheme of things, but it immediately divided the internet.
“There’s no velocity on that ball,” one follower wrote. “Not seeing much zip,” wrote another.
While some are weary in his attempt to get back to full strength, others appreciated the update. This is positive movement in the rehab process.
“He’s good to go,” his head coach said earlier this week. “He’s exceeding every benchmark.”
That’s good news considering the $4 million investment. His offseason progress will make or break his final college season. Arm strength has always been a plus in terms of NFL outlook. If he’s able to get it back, the sky is the limit.
Beck is getting healthier after his UCL surgery. He’s on a mission to get to 100% by the fall. The quarterback has three more months to prep for the opener against Notre Dame. The Hurricanes hope the expensive risk pays off with a run to the College Football Playoff.
