Dan Patrick Confusingly Broke Down Just How Overrated Aaron Rodgers Is As A Quarterback

Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers is like a magnet for criticism. There’s just something about the guy that makes people want to take him down every chance they get.

As I said in June, dude is like a human dart board for haters.

From his fractured relationship with his family to dating Olivia Munn and Danica Patrick to his piss-poor beer-chugging ability, Rodgers gets cut no slack.

Not sure why that is. Maybe its fact that he always appears so smarmy. I don’t know.

One thing you can’t say about Rodgers, however, is that he is a bad quarterback. But overrated? Sure, you can argue that. Which is exactly what Dan Patrick did on his show Wednesday. And he did it very well.

“‘Oh, he’s the most physically talented. Oh, he’s the best quarterback of all time.’ No, he’s not. We’re changing the grading system here on quarterbacks. ‘Oh, he’s the most physically gifted.’ Okay, what does that even mean? I mean, is Aaron Rodgers more physically gifted than Randall Cunningham? And there’s a lot of guys who are physically gifted. Cam Newton’s physically gifted,” Patrick began.

“‘Oh, if you were going to start your team.’ Okay. What does that mean? You know, Tom Brady’s not going to be picked because he doesn’t do anything glamorous. Okay. Joe Montana… he’s not very threatening. Probably not picking him as physically gifted. Don’t change the grading system here. I mean, Jamarcus Russell was one of the most physically gifted quarterbacks of all time.”

“What am I missing with Aaron Rodgers? I just don’t think he can live up to all the praise. Now this is one of the few negatives about Aaron Rodgers, but we’ve started to see a little bit more of that the last couple of years. There’s just so much praise, in an era where you had Tom Brady and Peyton Manning. But Aaron Rodgers is the guy you’d start your team with,” added Patrick.

“I think he’s great. I just don’t think he’s as great as everyboy’s made him out to be because he doesn’t have the bottom line results that everybody else has. … You don’t get style points. … You don’t get extra points for how pretty you’re doing it.”

Interesting take, especially when you consider that just nine days ago Patrick also said, “If you said I could have one quarterback this year I would have Aaron Rodgers.” Then added, “Rodgers is still the best quarterback in the NFL.”

I’m very confused. Does Patrick consider Rodgers to be overrated because of all the praise he gets from fans and people in the media like… himself?

I don’t necessarily disagree with Patrick’s take, I’m just not sure I 100 percent understand it.
