Daniel Jones made headlines upon his return to the New York Giants facility, but unfortunately, it wasn’t for showing up in impressive shape or looking sharp on the practice field, but rather, for his wide-eyed look during the press conference.

Speaking to the media on the Giants’ first day of voluntary offseason workouts on Monday, April 15, Jones went viral for his intense thousand-yard-stare that was reminiscent of Adam Gase’s infamous introductory press conference with the New York Jets.

Jones faces a potentially make-or-break season this year, as he massively underwhelmed last season after being given a four-year, $160 million contract extension in the previous offseason.

The 26-year-old signal caller was so bad, in fact, the reports out of NFL circles indicated that the G-Men have feelings of “buyer’s remorse” towards his contract. In fact, not only is the fate of his own career in Jones’ hands but so is that of head coach Brian Daboll.

After a career-best season in 2022 that saw him complete 67% of his passes for 3,205 yards, 15 touchdowns, and 5 interceptions (certainly not eye-popping numbers), while also carrying the ball 120 times for 708 yards and 7 touchdowns, Jones started in just six games in 2023, posting a 1-5 record while completely 67% of his passes for 909 yards, 2 touchdowns, and 6 interceptions.

In addition to his poor performance, Jones is also coming off of a massive injury as he tore his ACL in late October.

According to reports, the Giants, who have the 6th overall pick in the upcoming 2024 NFL Draft, are open to taking a quarterback should the right one be available. NFL Network’s Peter Schrager, for example, predicts they’ll trade up to #4 to select University of Michigan quarterback J.J. McCarthy.

If the Giants are going to return to the playoffs, they’ll likely have to do so via the Wild Card as bookies currently project them to finish at the bottom of the NFC East behind the Philadelphia Eagles, Dallas Cowboys, and Washington Commanders.
