The “Horns Down” sign has officially gone international thanks to an English footballer’s vicious taunt. The player, who committed to play for the University of Oklahoma this week, has given a new audience access to the disrespectful gesture.

Daniel Akinkunmi, a three-star prospect from London, pledged his commitment to the Sooners on Thursday. The offensive lineman chose OU over Baylor, Clemson, and Miami.

Akinkunmi held a small ceremony to announce his college decision, throwing on an Oklahoma cap to reveal his choice.

He then trolled his soon-to-be rival with maybe the most popular taunt in college football.

Akinkunmi threw a vicious “Horns Down” after making his pick, a move that should help him quickly acclimate to life in Norman, OK.

The gesture is one that irks the Texas fanbase to no end, so much so that it was made illegal for players to do in the Big XII. That won’t necessarily be the case when the Longhorns move to the SEC next season.

Akinkunmi is the top player in England, and he’s an absolute mammoth at 6-foot-4 and 310 pounds. Despite that massive size, he’s already fitting right in with Sooner Nation.

While Texas was not in the offensive lineman’s final group, this commitment only added to the pain felt over the last few days. Oklahoma was able to upset the Longhorns in the Red River Rivalry last weekend to potentially ruin their rival’s chance at a national title.

After have to deal with a number of those “Horns Down” taunts in Dallas, fans are now seeing them overseas, too. Talk about adding salt to the wound.
