On Christmas Day, the Denver Broncos arguably reached the lowest point of an already dismal season after dropping to 4-11 following a 51-14 thrashing at the hands of the similarly uninspiring Rams. It didn’t take long for the franchise to kick Nathanial Hackett to the curb before he could finish his first season as head coach in the Mile High City, but his dismissal meant fans could direct even more vitriol at the largest remaining scapegoat: Russell Wilson.

It’s hard to fathom just how much Wilson saw his performance drop off when the Seahawks absolutely fleeced the Broncos by trading the quarterback in the offseason, and his failure to even come close to living up to the expectations surrounding him when he arrived in Denver has understandably been the source of an infinite amount of frustration.

You don’t have to be an expert in reading body language to realize at least a couple of Wilson’s teammates have been less than thrilled with how he’s played; Melvin Gordon hit the QB with some side-eye for the ages during a game in October, and Mike Purcell was not shy about making his feelings known on the sideline in November.

As a result, it’s pretty easy to buy into the rumors that Wilson doesn’t have many allies in the locker room. With that said, he does still have at least one notable name in his corner thanks to wide receiver Jerry Jeudy.

On Wednesday, NFL fans reacted how you’d expect to a report concerning the private office and multiple parking spaces Wilson has at Denver’s facility. At first glance, that type of treatment doesn’t exactly scream “team player,” but Jeudy came to the QB’s defense on Thursday in a series of tweets where he did what he could to downplay the controversy he framed as overblown.

I wish Jeudy and the rest of the Broncos the best of luck as they wait for things to turn around, because based on how things are currently looking, they’re going to be waiting a while.
