On Monday, incoming University of Southern California freshman Bronny James, the son of NBA legend LeBron James, suffered from cardiac arrest around 9:30 a.m. local time while practicing at the university.

According to reports, James was then rushed to a hospital and taken to the ICU. By the time news of James’ hospitalization became public, though, he was already out of the ICU and on the mend.

On Thursday, LeBron addressed the scary situation in public for the first time and thanked everyone for their prayers. He also provided an update on Bronny, saying that he’s “healthy.”

“I want to thank the countless people sending my family love and prayers. We feel you and I’m so grateful. Everyone doing great. We have our family together, safe and healthy, and we feel your love. Will have more to say when we’re ready but I wanted to tell everyone how much your support has meant to all of us!” James tweeted on Thursday afternoon.

James, a point guard/shooting guard combo that was ranked 40th-ranked prospect in his graduating class, committed to playing for the University of Southern California Trojans earlier this year, choosing the school over the University of Oregon and Ohio State University.

While Bronny hasn’t even officially begun his college career, he’s already the most valuable NIL athlete in the country, as he has an estimated valuation of $7.5 million thanks to deals with brands such as Beats By Dre and Nike.

His father LeBron, widely considered to be one of the greatest basketball players to ever live, has long expressed his desire to play with Bronny before he retires. With Bronny, if cleared by his doctors, spending 2023-24 with the Trojans, that means the soonest the pair could possibly play together in the fall of 2024 if Bronny even makes it into the league, and if LeBron can find a way to have them team up.
