Rangers pitcher Max Scherzer may not have been able to play in the Rangers’ series against Baltimore in the American League Division Series, but that certainly didn’t stop him from celebrating harder than just about anybody.
Scherzer, well known for his, uh, intensity, once again put it on full display inside the Rangers’ locker room with catcher Austin Hedges (who played in just 16 games for the Rangers in 2023 – none in the playoffs) after Texas advanced to the American League Championship Series.

Celebrations like this are nothing new for the 39 year-old pitcher.
In 2021, Scherzer and the Los Angeles Dodgers defeated the St. Louis Cardinals in the Wild Card round to move on the National League Division Series.
After that game, Max Scherzer appeared shirtless and acting a little inebriated during a post-game interview he did with TBS.

Reactions to Scherzer and Hedges’ maniacal celebration were all over the place.
“Astros beat writers are having an aneurysm watching this,” one fan wrote, referring to the beef started last week by Astros reporter, Brian McTaggart.
“Max Scherzer this year is the kid in the project that did nothing but still got the A,” another joked.
Imagine how excited they’ll be if/when they actually win something, like a pennant or championship

“Two guys who have done basically nothin’ to get us here, but I’m here for it! Enjoy the ride fellas,” a Rangers fan commented.
“I love baseball but the celebration for every round is embarrassing,” someone else wrote.
There has been much speculation about whether or not Scherzer will be able to pitch during the postseason for Texas.
After the game, still sporting his goggles, Max was asked about it.
“In a pretty good spot,” he said when asked about his availability.
Scherzer said he will throw a simulated game and then the team will decide.

The Rangers will play the winner of the series between the Houston Astros and Minnesota Twins and it sounds like Mad Max will be on the bump at some point in the American League Championship Series.
