The New Mexico State Aggies were the 2022 Quick Lane Bowl champs. They were 7-6 on the season and faced off against the 6-7 Bowling Green State Falcons in their bowl game in Detroit, Michigan.

New Mexico State‘s Coach Jerry Kill led his Aggies to a 24-19 win and he’s now making good on a promise he made to his football team. Coach Kill told his team that if they win their bowl game he’d get a tattoo to commemorate the win.

This was Coach Kill’s first season coaching at New Mexico State after previously serving as TCU’s interim head coach. He wanted that bowl game win enough to make a ‘tattoo bet’ with his squad. And Coach Kill’s tattoo of the 2022 Quick Lane Bowl game is glorious.

Here is Coach Kill in the process of getting his new Quick Lane Bowl Game tattoo:

Coach Kill says he’s a “man of his word.” And in the week leading up to the bowl game he told his player he’d get a tattoo if they won the game.

Of course, most college football coaches have large bonuses that are triggered with a bowl game win. Jerry Kill signed a 5-year contract with New Mexico State prior to the bowl game that pays our $3.1 million over 5 years.

According to the Las Cruces Sun News, Coach Kill’s contract has all sorts of bonuses including $10K for beating rival New Mexico. But it does not outline what the bowl game bonus was.

New Mexico State Aggies and College Football fans were loving Coach Kill’s tattoo. One person on Twitter replied “I see you getting several more tattoos, for each Bowl Game you coach the Aggies too & they get the win!!”

Another fan wrote “This is what you call commitment!!!! Time for everybody else to Aggie up, get season tickets and get involved. Love it coach.” One very ambitious fan commented “Hey coach! Where are you putting the tat for the 2023 bowl championship??”

The New Mexico State Aggies 2022 recruiting class ranked 93rd in the nation. Their transfer portal class ranked 48th. They’ll need some help if they want to make the playoffs.
