The Patriots season is off to a rough start, with a 1-5 record. Bill Belichick, both coach and general manager, is rightfully bearing the brunt of the blame for the team’s struggles.

Over the years, Belichick’s questionable personnel decisions and his reluctance to share power have weakened the team’s talent pool. The post-Tom Brady era, which began in 2020, has been far from stellar, with Belichick now just 8 losses away from tying the record for the most career losses at 165, alongside Jeff Fisher and Dan Reeves.

According to Sports Illustrated’s Albert Breer, Patriots owner Robert Kraft has already had discussions about parting ways with Belichick.

During an appearance on The Herd, Breer shared that Kraft is well aware of the local criticism and the displeasure of the fanbase and has already discussed moving on from Belichick.

Colin Cowherd asked Breer: “Do you believe there are discussions in New England about moving on from Bill at the end of the season?”

Breer responded: “These discussions have taken place. I can tell you for sure, Robert hears the criticism, he hears the anger locally and people in the building know for a fact that he’s hearing the anger from the fanbase.”

Breer added the discussions about Belichick have been underway for awhile and said: “I think now we’re at the point where.. is this just going to be a flat out firing.”

For many Patriots fans, the contrast between Belichick’s struggling and Tom Brady’s winning a Super Bowl with the Buccaneers made things crystal clear. The debate over who played a more significant role in the team’s dynasty has been decided.

Will Belichick, who’s a career under .500 coach without Tom Brady, just step down for the good of everyone, or will he force Kraft to fire him? that will be interesting.
